The Kensington Park redevelopment project is nearing substantial completion. The grading of the property is complete. The seeding for grass and the installment of the erosion blanket has begun. The baseball fencing including dugouts and backstops has been installed with the exception of the overhang on the backstops. The picnic pavilion has been constructed and is awaiting electrical service and installation of the water fountain. The walking path has had the limestone material spread and will be compacted shortly. The parking lot is complete. The final stages of the project will include cleanup of the property, landscape, signage, addressing the punch list and putting the playground back in working condition.
                           
The District appreciates our Kensington Park neighbor’s patience and cooperation during the construction. As the work winds down, we request our patrons not to encroach upon the erosion blankets and if using the park once it is open please stay on the walking path until further notice. It will take the spring and summer for the turf to become established and playable. Next year the park district will have a dedication and a grand opening. More details will be forthcoming. Also, the district hopes to create a parks “watch” program working with volunteers to provide oversight for the property.
