It’s time for classes at Hogwarts School! Wear your costume and meet at Platform 9 ¾ where the Sorting Hat will sort the students into houses during our ride. Once we arrive we will enjoy a brunch in the great hall followed by magic, games, and crafts before getting back on the train for the ride back to the platform at the Downers Grove Main Street Station. Age: Families (children under 2 are free provided they sit on parent’s lap on train and at brunch) |
The Butterfield Park District will be hosting an open house for anyone who wants to see what the Park District has to offe: preschool, Before & After School Program, No School Days, youth sports, Special Events, etc. Refreshments, games, and special activities will be available, so come out and see what the Butterfield Park District can do for you! 2010 Butterfield Park District Golf Social The Butterfield Park District would like to invite you to the second annual Butterfield Park District Golf Social! This is a great opportunity to support the Butterfield Park District and finish out the 2010 season out on the links. We will play nine holes for this fun event. Enjoy special hole contests, food, beverage, and a few surprises sure to make this a fun and exciting event for you and your family. Age: 10+ |

Explore the wonders of the 385acre gardens by walking or taking a tram through the Chicago Botanic Gardens. The summer season will take you winding through the woods, waterways, and paths of 23 formal garden displays! Transportation to and from the gardens will be provided. Age: All Ages |
It’s Halloween time and that means that it is time for “The Great Costume Race” at the Butterfield Park District. Come out dressed in your favorite appropriate costume this Halloween season and participate in a 5K race through the Butterfield East neighborhood. There will be awards for costumes, however, costumes are not required. For further race information, please contact the Butterfield Park District at 6308582229. Help decorate the Butterfield Park District for Thanksgiving. Come to the Recreation Center to pick up your giant paper turkey and make the BPD bird unique and fun as a family. Contestants will win fabulous gifts and prizes for a variety of fun categories. Stop by and pick up your winning turkey! Pick up Turkeys beginning November 1; turn in decorated turkeys no later than November 19 Age: All ages |
Come take a ride on the Polar Express! You will meet us at the station where we will board this magical train with the conductor. While riding to the North Pole, the story of the Polar Express will be read. Upon arrival Santa's Elves will welcome us into Santa's Workshop where we will eat lunch with Santa. While at the North Pole you will have a photo taken with Santa, make a holiday craft, and have fun playing some great games! At the end of the day, Santa will read one of his favorite stories to everyone. We will sing some familiar holiday songs on our train ride back.
