The Butterfield Bullfrogs Swim Team offers children the chance to excel with their swimming talent while enjoying team fun and spirit. As a member of the DuPage Swim & Dive Conference, the team swims ten dual meets which occur on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. At the end of the season, “A” and “B” Conference Championship meets are held. The season ends with our team Awards & Family Swim Party.
The Butterfield Swim Team has goals for both the swimmer and the family. The goals of the swimmer are to be able
to swim all four strokes, do starts, turns, swim competitively, and have fun being a part of a team. The Bullfrogs swim
season also includes special events such as a Team Get-Acquainted Night, annual team outing to Magic Waters and
year end Splash Party. Each family is required to volunteer their assistance at five dual meets and participate in team
activities. This also helps form new friendships with other swim team parents and children.
Each new swimmer must also meet the following requirements before being accepted on the team: be between the ages of 6-18; be available to practice 4-5 times per week; be able to attend a minimum of six dual meets; and exhibit appropriate behavior at all swim practices and meets. New members must also meet tryout requirements. Tryouts are held for all new swimmers at the end of the second week of practice. These include:
- 8 & under: being water safe, able to swim one length of the pool with a legal freestyle stroke without touching the bottom or sides of the pool, exhibit knowledge of at least one other stroke.
- 9 & older: be able to swim two continuous lengths of the pool with a legal freestyle stroke and a second stroke, as well as exhibit knowledge of a third stroke.
Swim team participants must register through the Swim Team and the Park District. Swim Team has forms particular to swim team, not found in this brochure. All new swimmers must show their birth certificate at registration and parent and/or guardian must sign registration. Swim Team registration will close as age groups meet maximum levels. Late registration will only be allowed for age groups that have not reached maximum numbers. Two checks will be needed for payment: one made out to Butterfield Park District for swim team fees and pool fees, and one made out to Keifer Sport for suits and/or any team clothing. (Samples are available for sizing.) There are no refunds on team clothing purchased at registration. Parents will also be required to sign up to volunteer at five of the ten dual meets, so you may wish to bring your calendars on registration day! Volunteer signup must be completed before final registration is accepted.

You have the option of purchasing a family pool pass (see page 2 for prices) or an individual pool pass just for your child for $45.
